These self-portraits and manipulated photos capture fleeting emotions through which I explore my own sense of identity as I evolve day after day. Modern polaroid film is less stable than the older one and more so when manipulated. The polaroids continue to evolve subtly even after the intervention is finished, for days and weeks, adding a further element of impermanence: no moment is equal to the previous one, and no photograph remains equal to itself. It is time that transforms them, just like it happens with us. In the end, they are all destined to change and perhaps become very different from when they were captured, and yet this is what we are as human beings, constant and never the same.

About
Born in Italy in 1979, I am a traveller, book lover, and humanitarian worker, and I live in the south of Spain since 2010 when not working in some crisis around the world. Amateur photographer since when I graduated from university many years ago, I bought an old Polaroid camera at a flea market in 2020, and it was love at first sight. Since then, I have taught myself multiple techniques and experimented constantly. I enjoy exploring the possibilities that instant photography offers, and especially manipulating the photos in different ways: lifting emulsions on paper, canvas and glass; using colours, mixed media, and embroidery; processing photos with different liquids that react with the emulsion and creating strange and unexpected effects; creating double exposures in portraits and self-portraits. I use these techniques to define moods, process emotions, explore my identity, and manipulate images to give voice to the ineffable. Photography leads me to personal and familiar memories, everyday life's beauty, and joy.
