I can't remember a time when I didn't have a camera or didn't want to explore the world around me through photography. For over forty years, my passion for photography has outlasted the impulsiveness and short attention span in other parts of my life. Over time, my priorities have shifted from creating technically proficient, pretty pictures to creating meaningful art through photography. Each piece in the series Conflicting Emotion consists of a single image on the left side, duplicated, flipped, rotated, and color-modified by 180 degrees. The result is a two-panel image that invites the viewer to experience conflicting emotional responses based on the changes of color and form. Some images used in to create this series include single exposure photos created with techniques of intentional camera movement (ICM). Other started as in-camera multiple exposures which were subsequently processed for global and local tonal enhancement. In all cases, the initial photos were created to with the intent to elicit artistic and emotional impact.
