Is the cosmos mainly cause or chance? Is our life formed only by our choices, or are there also invisible forces? The Place of Destiny is a photographic project about all of us. A real place, Milan, becomes the setting where the invisible forces that move and attract each of us materialise themselves. All photographs are hand-made cyanotypes plus ink-jet prints on Magnani cotton fine-art paper.

About
Luca Casonato was born in 1977 (Venice, Italy). After graduating in Building Engineering and specialising in photography, he completed his training as an assistant to the photographer Gabriele Basilico. Alongside his professional activity as a photographer, he is constantly engaged in artistic research to represent the fragmented contemporary landscape and the aesthetics of engineering. Two specific elements characterise his project choices: the constant searching for the seriality and modularity in the contemporary landscape – which is the result of a quasi-scientific attitude and method of investigating reality – and the courageous use, not lacking irony, of bright and very well-defined colours almost with a neo-pop taste – which is a powerful technical, expressive code. Luca Casonato’s researches have the quality to look all different and yet linked by a remarkable consistency that depends mainly on the way the author shapes the picture and thinks about the world in the form of a well-structured set, in which vast landscapes or environment details appear helping to create a vast mosaic that, we imagine, the author intends to continue to build methodically over time. Luca Casonato has a vast list of exhibitions and awards, published on the bio of his website.
