The series Suite reflects on nature as a poetic act of recovering the amazement of observing the trees, the aesthetics of the sublime. I am interested in playing at transforming photography into something expressly pictorial and not casual. There is a manipulation in the photographic image, but it always remains. The sets of trees that I have been collecting belong to different places: Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona, the banks of the Ara river in Boltaña, and the Ampurdán. Once captured, I began to work on the skies, combining the ethereal with solid textures, almost always taken in the same geographical locations, and then the almost culinary work of combining both images to bring them as close as possible to the pictorial world.

Xavi Millán began in 1980 as a photographer at the Primer Plano Gallery in Barcelona. He later developed professionally as a decorator and graphic designer for film and advertising. In recent years, he has once again actively participated in the contemporary photography scene, in which his work stands out for its originality and sensitivity. He establishes bridges between the real and the dreamed in a delicate work of glazes and textures. Like old photos that appear by chance in a drawer, they reveal a dream past in dance with the present reality: a journey into the subconscious of the collective imagination.
