When rationality, repetition and predictability of events become too heavy for me, I take long night walks in nature or in small silent villages. With the desire to derealize what surrounds me, I move the light, remain in the silhouettes and in the shadows, create a place, erase another, and capture or shape strange characters and creatures. By transforming landscapes and nocturnal scenes into abstract, dreamy, and mysterious images with a mystical atmosphere and ambiguous content, I try to build a subjective narrative about the magic of the unknown hidden behind the obvious. In these moments, photography is like a drug that enables me to reach a kind of hallucinatory experience in which various art movements that have marked me - surrealism, tonalism and pictorialism - take over.

About
Christophe Joset is a photographer based in Berne, Switzerland. Christophe Joset's work is mainly focused on the night, its atmosphere and the emotions it brings. In his ongoing series, he explores the hallucinatory power of the night during long night walks. His other favourite field of work is street photography, privileging decisive atmospheres created by light and colours, in which characters, most often lonely, wander in a suspended atmosphere, sometimes soft, sometimes uncanny.
