Immersed in Living Water is a cathartic endeavor. It started when Sacks became handicapped and could no longer bathe her small children from outside of the tub. Getting into the tub with her children became easier. Sacks started to photograph her own children in the water. Sacks later branched out to photograph children other than my own. Looking through the camera lens, she subconsciously remembered the children she had treated and photographed for teaching purposes as an Emergency Medicine Physician. Some children she had treated had just been born, some were sick, and some even died on her watch. Now, having stopped work due to illness, she had time to celebrate and mourn the experiences at work. These images are about life, death, love, mourning, and celebration. This series was on a subconscious level as it was not intended for professional purposes. She unknowingly was beginning a career as a photographer. Now, her wish is for viewers to explore their own spiritual awareness as they take their time understanding the emotional and fluid nature and layers of the series, Immersed in Living Water

About
Sacks grew up surrounded by art and science. Her mother, a fabric designer and painter, instilled a fearlessness for creativity. Sacks's father and grandfather, both physicians, exposed her to medical literature and texts at a young age which enhanced her understanding in the human condition. This combination, in turn, shaped her interests and lead her to her career as a physician and then as a photographer.
Photo book, À fleur d’eau, in collaboration with Claude Nori and Contrejour Publishing House, Paris, France.
