I reignited my passion for digital photography during the quarantine in 2020. I discovered emotional healing and a renewed confidence through self-portraiture with vulnerable messages. I typically begin with a personal concept, a thought or a feeling I want to convey or express. However, after creating during a pandemic, I’m an avid believer in using what you’ve got and making the most of it. So what I don’t achieve through capturing my image, I attempt to accomplish in post-production through digital double exposure, mirrored imaging, or dramatic editing. My final images are often compilations, diptych, triptych or grid edits, juxtaposing for a complimentary or even dissonant effect. (i.e., Opposites. Paradoxes. Dilemmas.) Inspired by nature, life’s triumphs and struggles, and, often, lyrics or literature that strike a chord in my moody and beautifully flawed soul. I am constantly moved and inspired by other artists, their originality, vision and passion. By documenting my healing journey through artistic expression and creative process, I genuinely hope that others will find the freedom to express themselves through visual art, especially in seasons when words fall short and emotions run deep.
