Dore Holm is a project in which I returned to my childhood home of the Shetland Islands to explore a part of myself that I had felt missing. I had found myself yearning to be back in Shetland, trying to emulate the connection by deepening my photographic practice's focus on landscape work, but the only true way to reflect on myself was to be back home. Shetland is a place of mysticism, rich history, magic and a rugged landscape, and Dore Holm provided the opportunity to document my experience reflecting on how identity can be shaped by landscape, heritage, magic, and folklore. The work also features performative elements as I recorded my immersion into the scenery through ritualistic movement and playfully exploring the elements of the land. As a person who often feels quite lost, this series allowed me to find myself again through the lens of looking home.

About
Liúsaidh (Liverpool, UK) is a visual artist motivated by the experiment of photography, ascertaining fresh ways to express ideas and uses this not only to create a body of work but to investigate oneself. Self-exploration is a prevalent theme within her work, channelling into different subjects and imagery. Her practice consists of self-portraiture and landscapes, often marrying the two creating a co-dependent relationship between the figure and the environment. Liusaidh uses visual codes to expose inner thoughts and past traumas to an audience. Recent work focussed on her heritage, returning to the Shetland Island's rediscovering her own identity through exploring the land.
