My photographic journey began many years ago. I have always been interested in creating images which resonate with my emotional response to the landscape which surrounds me. My background is in Textile design, so colour and texture play a huge part in my finished images. This series of images were created around the forest and wetland areas in Somerset, UK. I consider my style to be 'camera painting', harking back to my early life training in Fine Art and then Textile and Surface Pattern design. I am deeply passionate about the environment and the 'disappearing' green spaces in the countryside. There are pressures from all sides, especially around the 'thorny' subject of housing and planning, which are becoming more and more alarming as the years roll by. I see this, especially as I live in a rural area. As I explore the countryside through the changing seasons, my eye is drawn to the beautiful colours of the English landscape and the ancient spaces full of history and unique places. I have hope for the future that these places will be saved for future generations to gaze upon and enjoy.
