Founded in 2007 by sister and brother, Adélie de Ipanema and Edouard Genestar, Polka Gallery is now located in Paris’ Marais area. Located in a beautiful courtyard, a total surface area of 300 square meters is dedicated to photographic creation and annually organises a series of ten exhibits.To this day, the gallery represents the work of 30 photographers, French but also international. Polka also collaborates with roughly 30 “associated” artists. Each one offering a very personal photographic signature, along with a common desire to use the photographic medium as a way to explore the documenting of an event.The gallery’s programming is based on exclusive productions and aims to offer a series of shows that question what is at stake in today’s photography.Polka has also been publishing Polka magazine on a regular basis. Launched by Alain Genestar, its intention is to bring a fresh and open vision on vibrance in contemporary and modern photography. With a 50 000 print circulation, Polka Magazine is distributed in France as well as some major cities around the world.
