Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea (Museum of Contemporary Photography) was opened in 2004 in Villa Ghirlanda, an ancient villa with a huge English garden in the historical center of Cinisello Balsamo, close to Milan.It's the first public museum of photography in Italy. The mission is the conservation, cataloguing, study and promotion of photography, with a particular focus on the relationship between photography and other arts and the current technological transformations.Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea operates in a national and international context, but it is also deeply rooted in the Milan metropolitan area and maintains an ongoing dialogue with its communities.
