Founded in 2015, CHAUSSEE 36 PHOTO FOUNDATION is a non-profit organization that aids and puts to question the historicization of erotic, nude, experimental and historical photographs. Our investment lies within the socio-political impact of these photographic disciplines as well as their influence on an art historical discourse. We examine the photographic medium in all of its facets through regular exhibitions, publications and the administration of the Collection De Gambs and the Heinz Hajek-Halke Estate.
Our exhibitions are, however, not limited to the photographers within these collections but rather the overarching disciplines and surrounding research questions as they relate to contemporary photography. Questions such as: What is Experimental Photography Now? What is Erotic Photography Now? What constitutes a historical Image?
CHAUSSEE 36 Photo Foundation collaborates with museums, private and state collections, galleries, and organisations to realise the exhibitions and events taking place in-house as well as external shows and projects.
