Grey Flowers

Suitcase Joe is an anonymous street photographer based in Los Angeles. He is best known for his decade-long work documenting life on Skid Row, culminating in his first photo book, Sidewalk Champions, published by Burn Barrel Press. For his Sophomore book, Grey Flowers, he focuses on other Los Angeles neighborhoods, chronicling raw, gritty underworld scenery. For Suitcase Joe, it’s often with the overlooked and misunderstood that he finds beauty through his lens.

L.A. Weekly described Suitcase Joe’s work as “intimate and raw, his photos often bypass voyeurism in favor of presence, proximity and empathy.” His photography has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the country, including the Torrance Museum of Art, and has appeared in The Guardian, The Daily Mail, Juxtapoz, and Artillery.
