  • The World Press Photo Exhibition 2020 showcases the best visual journalism of 2019.
  • Due to start from 17 April, some locations of the exhibition worldwide tour had to be canceled or postponed to later in the year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The exhibition premiered in Amsterdam on 1 June with special safety measures, and seven exhibition locations will follow in the coming months: Prague, Rome, Berlin, Alkmaar, Montreal, Budapest, Dortmund, and Barcelona.
  • As governments in some countries start to ease measures, other locations will be able to open in 2020 and 2021.

The World Press Photo Exhibition 2020, showcasing the stories that matter with photography from the 63rd annual World Press Photo Contest, started its worldwide tour at De Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on 1 June. Seven exhibitions have been confirmed in the coming months: Prague, Czech Republic; Rome, Italy; Berlin, Germany; Alkmaar, the Netherlands; Montreal, Canada; Budapest, Hungary; Dortmund, Germany; Vilnius, Lithuania; and Barcelona, Spain.

In 2019, the World Press Photo Exhibition toured to over 120 cities in 50 countries around the world, reaching over 4 million visitors. As governments in some countries start to ease measures and allow public spaces to reopen with certain rules, other locations of our World Press Photo Exhibition 2020 tour will be able to open later in 2020 and 2021. Connecting the world to the stories that matter

We are a global platform connecting professionals and audiences through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling, founded in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized a contest (“World Press Photo”) to expose their work to an international audience. Since then, our mission has expanded. Our contests have grown into the world’s most prestigious competitions, rewarding the best in visual journalism and digital storytelling. Through our successful worldwide exhibition program, we present to millions of people the stories that matter. Our Develop programs - including the 6x6 Global Talent Program, the African Photojournalism Database, the Joop Swart Masterclass, the Solutions Visual Journalism Initiative, and the West Africa Visual Journalism Initiative - encourage stories highlighting different perspectives of the world. We are a creative, independent, nonprofit organization. We appreciate the support of our global partner, the Dutch Postcode Lottery, and our partners Aegon and PwC.
