Like a banana, yellow on the outside and white on the inside, it is an almost unheard-of term for Westerners, but it is well-established among people of my origin. It embraces the generation that could enjoy a complete Western education while the home front continued to preserve our original values. I am passionate about absorbing and translating the two worlds, two cultures, and two fronts, and effortlessly combining and mixing customs, artistic forms, and languages.

Everywhere and nowhere, the art of in-between. The interaction between tradition and modernity. Twelve portraits, twelve characters from the gut, based on one of the four classical Chinese novels, The Dream of the Red Chamber by Cao Xueqin. It is the Art of in-between: The best of two worlds: East meets West.

About
Hua Cai-Prossé did not speak a single word of Dutch when she arrived in Belgium. As the daughter of a cliche Chinese restaurant owner, she dared to attend the renowned Antwerp Fashion Academy. As a multilingual, Chinese-speaking freelance stylist, she was quickly absorbed into the Belgian fashion scene. Photography only came about when she vowed to take better pictures of her three sons, all of them internationally active in fencing. Before she knew what was happening, she was working as a photographer.
