My work focuses on the intersection of physical and digital realms. Utilising digital data from glitched images, I create new photographs and sculptures with modelling software and machine learning.

This process allows me to explore the future's vision and understand the potential of glitches in creating both digital and physical objects. My artistic exploration balances fragility with stability and blends machine-made elements with handmade techniques, all while challenging traditional photography methods with alternative processes.

About

Shuwan Chen (1994), a visual artist based in New York City, blends the physical and digital in her visual artworks. Educated at the Australian National University and the School of Visual Arts in New York, she co-founded Iidrr Gallery and iidrr.com, showcasing her innovative approach to art. Shuwan's notable exhibitions include "SITUASIAN" in China, the MFA thesis show at SVA Chelsea Gallery, and her involvement in Nanjing Tech Week. Her work, recognised with an International Photography Award, traverses photography, sculpture, and digital mediums, reflecting her deep exploration of the interplay between technology and traditional art forms.
