Party

From today the Nederlands Fotomuseum will host the mini-expo party about the newly discovered photobook party of photographer Ed van der Elsken. In this exhibition 8 photos from the book will be shown in combination with the accompanying contact sheets. The contact sheets make clear how Van der Elsken worked and which choices he made during the photography and later in the Dark Room. On these contact sheets he marked cut-outs and his favorites. Besides the photographs and contact sheets there is also a video presentation of the book itself.

Recently the Nederlands Fotomuseum and Rijksmuseum jointly acquired the last part of Ed van der Elsken's legacy. Among the many surprises and forgotten photographs was also the design for the photo book party, which Van der Elsken made between 1950-1960. For unknown reasons it was never published. Now the Rijksmuseum and the Nederlands Fotomuseum have published it posthumously. feast contains a succession of festive events and the intoxication that follows. In honor of this special publication, the Nederlands Fotomuseum organizes the mini exhibition party, on view until December 6.
